my disappointment in Hungary and especially politics, have been endless and the political scandal of our Prime Minister
his speech – that got recorded on a closed party meeting before the elections – had no surprises
to me at least
the peaceful demonstrations in front of our beautiful Parliament filled me with hope, that there might just be some sense of justice and pride left in the Hungarian nation
living up to our heritage of many previous generations, who didn’t put up with everything and dared to change
i almost started to forget the last hundreds of years of oppression and how they vanquished this spirit of freedom and replaced it with the spirit of apathy and hopelessness
as the group of hooligans beat up the handful of policemen at the Hungarian Television building the ray of light for change was put out
the outrage of the ‘normal’ citizens turned from our political leaders and most people felt it is better to have a lying, cheating, stealing – and being very arrogant about it – political leadership
then joining the protesters, who lit cars on fire
the thousands of peaceful protesters, who had noting to do with the violence stopped coming and stayed home in fear
as the protests died and the riot police – equipped now with fancy new gear – smashed the remaining hooligans along with many innocent bystanders
not liking either alternative of apathy or rage
i just packed up
